3J, we totally rock! class adventure camp would have been a bore without everyone of you. anyway we must remember the 3 goals that we set for the camp, and try to achieve it:
1) abolish gender divide
2) interpersonal responsibilities
3) class bonding
anyway here's the brief outline of what we did during CAC:
In the morning
had some sort of briefing about the camp in school, set goals for our class to achieve. we were then divided into 3 groups. i was in the feed-me group, which had to plan our dinner and breakfast during camp. we had to learn to use the gas stove and budget for our meals with $66 bucks.
we then set out to changi village, where we ate our lunch before boarding a boat to ubin.
In the afternoon
trek, trek and more trekking. when we first arrived, everyone spammed mosquito repellent and sunblock (for the girls only). we were then divided into 2 large groups, so that each faciliator could take 1 group. each group had to have at least a few people who were previously in the lead-me group, so that they could guide us to the checkpoints. first time i see jeremy so enthus about getting to the checkpoint that he ran aboput 100m to it. (must say he is good at map reading). ok, so the last place we ended up was chek jawa, which had fantastic scenery. the sea breeze was really cooling on our faces although the sun was beating down on us. many pictures were taken there. also, fortunately for us, some girls brought food, so we ended up snacking there as well.
From there, the feed-me group split up to trek back to a provision shop to purchase food for our dinner and breakfast the next day. thanks to our good budgetting skills, we used up exactly $66 bucks. here is a list of what we bought:
- maggi mee
- bread
- jam
- sardines
- canned fruit
- baked beans
- duck with preserved veg
- milo
and 12 1.5 litre bottles of clean water.
Yay, we had a van to fetch us to the campsite, otherwise all of us would have died carrying all that to the campsite.
In the evening
Managed to wash my hair and cleaned up before sunset and the water ran out. Helped in the cooking of maggi mee and fed the rest of my class before the feed-me group ate. chris-tin also helped to heat up the duck so that it was more palatable. =) then a group of us girls set down at a bench to talk, and chris-tin ended up helping to french-braid our hair.
Night walk
was super scary. the girls were allowed to walk in pairs. but chris-tin and i kinda freaked out, so we switched on the torch halfway thru the walk. and some of our class guys decided to stand around the trees to scare the girls. but i felt it was a good experience walking in smaller groups cos, for OBS, our entire group walked together. Getting back to the campsite, we laid a tarp on the ground, and everyone gathered to tell ghost stories, but i phased out, and ended up falling asleep. so, a few girls proceeded to the tent to sleep. Probably slept for 5 hours but kept waking up, cos the ground was rocky and hard.
