Carpe Jugulum

Read another one of the novels of Discworld (fantasy) written by Terry Pratchet but the 1st one to star vampires. i think Agnes Nitt who literally has 2 minds is a fascinating character in the book!
Shall compile a list of books that i have read this year on the 31st of Dec.

Ice-skating again

Went ice-skating again yesterday with seet instead of charlene who is on holiday. Met Ally at the rink as well. Sad to say, seet is a scaredy-cat, who dared not leave her comfort zone to try ice-skating on her own even with much persuasion from steph and i, although in the end, she still managed to skate around with us holding her. Ally, of course, is an expert, having taken up lessons with a coach in the rink. She therefore thought steph some special steps like cross-overs and spins. But, the money we paid to get in was not worth the time we spent on the rink. It was meant for unlimited time but we spent only 2.5 hours there which actually cost lesser bleh! No pics this time as Ally used her phone camera to take for us and it was too time-consuming to transfer it to my phone.

Batman

Who likes Batman?
Well anyway, i was one of the "lucky"100 Popular customers to get a free buffet dinneron the 8th to meet Batman in person and i was allowed to bring a partner. My aunt came along. Wow...how interesting -__-
Ok, the buffet was the best part. There was a wide variety of food though not fantastic, which included waffles and ice-cream.
Then came the really dumb and boring part - the lame games played while waiting for Batman to come.
You should seriously hear this. The MC introduced this game where the first person to pass her an item that she names will get a prize. Now, where have i heard this before? Anyway, during one round, she asked for an underwear and guess what, a little kid managed to pass her one! That seriously deserved 2 prizes (which are by the way lousy quality batman torchlights -__-).
The next game: a nerve game. 2 people will pair up, the male (if there is one in the pair) will sit in front and the other at the back. And what i mean by the nerve game is that the latter will be given rubber bands to tie the former's hair. Ow!! Imagine a guy with with as little hair as Jack Jack in the Incredibles having his hair tied up. Oh yah, the most number of ponytails win haha.
Batman came at last (i would have left but...). He put up this lame show where he had to protect the MC from 2 ninjas and in the end there was a photo session which i voluntarily went so as to put a picture here!
That concludes the whole Batman event bleh!

Ice-skating

Heard that there is only one ice-skating rink in Singapore...so pathetic :(
Must get pretty crowded during public or schoool holidays but fortunately its wasn't that bad today...(also not so many pro people like ice hockey members on the ice)
Stepped on the ice-skating rink for the 1st time but managed to get the hang of ice-skating fairly quickly (it's good to know how to rollerblade).
Haha obviously Steph whom i went with is a pro seeing how many times she has ice-skated before, so she helped Charlene (who also went with us) to master the basics of ice-skating.
Rating the fun of ice-skating - 4/5. It rawks!

As we go on, we remember, all the times we, spent together

The 4 musketeers, from left: Joyce, Charlene, me and Steph in front of the Chicken Little sign board. Went to Lido to watch the 10.15am show. The overall storyline is not bad but there are too many sub-plots which cause the linking to be rather abrupt
The orange fuzzy thing with 3 eyes aka Kirby in the movie is so cute, although it plays a really minor role. Chicken Little looks cute but its voice does not match its cuteness, such a waste!

This photo was taken in front of the christmas tree at Paragon. A nice lady agreed to take it for us. The background of Paragon's christmas decoration is cool, but we look kinda small. Hey...why is everybody except me so tall?

Having set lunches at Jack's Place near Heeren...
Argh, can you see fries on Charlehn's plate? Full of trans-fat but hey, eating those once in while can't do much damage right? Fortunately mine came with pasta instead.

Cute little furry black and blue balls with eyes that Steph made for us. Thanks! Taken at Delifrance, when Charlene and I sat down for a drink.

Haha

It's not the fault of the student if he or she fails, because the year only has 365 days.
Typical academic year for a student:
1. Sundays - 52 Sundays in a year, you know Sundays are for rest. Days left 313.
2. Summer holidays - 50 where weather is very hot and difficult to study. Days left 263.
3. 8 hours daily sleep - 130 days GONE. Days left 141.
4. 1 hour for daily playing- (good for health) means 15 days. Days left 126.
5. 2 hours daily for food & other delicacies (chewing properly & swallowing) - means 30days. Days left 96.
6. 1 hour for talking (man is a social animal) - means 15 days. Days left 81.
7. Exam days - per year at least 35 days. Days left 46.
8. Quarterly, half yearly and festival (holidays) - 40 days. Days left 6.
9. For sickness - at least 3 days. Days left 3.
10. Movies and functions- at least 2 days. 1 day left.
11. That 1 day is your birthday. How can you study on that day? Balance = 0
How can a student pass ?

Sleep to slim down

Taken from Reader's Digest December issue:
Research has shown that people who sleep for a few hours a night will experience an 18% decrease in leptin, a hormone that tells the brain that you're full, and an 28% increase in grehlin which cause hunger in their bodies. Another study also found those on 5 hours sleep per night are 50% more likely to be obese as those getting at least 7 hours.
So cool right? It plainly shows how important it is to get enough sleep!

Chocolate math

How many chocolate balls can you see?
Discover the inginuity of this game!
1. First of all, pick the number of times a week that you would like to have chocolate (more than once butless than 10)...
2. Multiply this number by 2 (Just to be bold)...
3. Add 5...
4. Multiply it by 50 I'll wait while you get the calculator...
5. If you have already had your birthday this year add 1755... If you haven't, add 1754...
6. Now subtract the four digit year that you were born...
You should have a three digit number. The first digit of this was your original number (i.e. how many times you want to have chocolate each week). The next two numbers are...YOUR AGE!!! THIS IS THE ONLY YEAR (2005) IT WILL EVER WORK!

Trans fat

Excerpts taken from Mind Your Body, 30 Nov
Shall reveal the truth about trans fat:
): best way to extend shelf life of products
): increases low density lipids (LDL) and decreases level of HDL
): increase insulin resistance, making consumers more prone to developing type 2 diabetes

Trans fats are formed when liquid vegetable oils go through a chemical process called hydrogenation which is used to make an oil more solid so tht it has a longer shelf life in baked products, longer fry life for cooking oils, and can provide a certain kind of texture to processed food.

Warning: Please avoid all the food listed below at all cost unless you want to die of a painful death!!!
): margarine
): deep-fried chips and crackers
): fast food
): commercial baked goods like cakes and cookies
): sweets, chocolates and ice-cream
): most cereals, plus energy bars
): frozen food like pizzas and fish fingers

Say goodbye to fries
I am trying to cut down on such food but sometimes you just can't avoid it as it is found in almost everything, especially nowadays, with all the processed food available. Must learn to control temptation no matter how delicious the food may be, otherwise i will also see myself putting on weight!

For more information on trans fat go to:
http://www.fda.gov/fdac/features/2003/503_fats.html, very informative including a table showing the amount of trans fat found in certain food.

Sleepover

Will be going over to my friend's house (the one beside me in the pic) for a sleepover later on at around 2.30 pm with 2 of my other friends.
Pretty excited because i have never had a sleepover at any of my friend's house before.
All my best pals since sec 1 will be there... (all 3 of them).
We' ll probably be playing xbox games and other board games as well, going out
and also cooking.
The cooking will include cooking for breakfast - pancakes and konnyaku jelly hehe :b and we' ll have to wash up after ourselves, so cooking simple stuff would be ideal!
Can't wait...

Night Watch

A book I'm currently reading by Terry Pratchett (the Discworld series) - Fantasy.
Would give it 4/5 stars so far!
Here's the synopsis taken from the book:

Commander Sam Vines of the Ankh-Morpork City Watch had it all. But now he's back in his own rough, tough past without even the clothes that he was standing up in when the lightning struck. Living in the past is hard. Dying in the past is increadibly easy. But he must survive, beacuse he has a job to do. he must track down a murderer, teach his younger self how to be a good copper and change the outcome of a bloody rebellion. There's a problem: if he wins, he's got no wife, no child, no future.
A Discworld Tale of One City, with a full chorus of street urchins, aldies of negotiable affection, rebels, secret policemen and other children of the revolution.

RS Survey

Went out today to conduct streets surveys for RS with my group.
Very unsuccessful...only managed to get 3 before we gave up and went for lunch.
Haha, must still be in holiday mood. Anyway, it is holiday!
But...we are continuing our progress on saturday at my friends house:
we're going to have a sleepover after that.
Our conscience tells us to, otherwise we would be too guilty :)

Funny poems

Someone sent this to me...really crappy
haha...
But still...have a good laugh :)

I wrote your name on sand it got washed.
I wrote your name in air,it was blown away. Then...
I wrote your name on my heart & i got Heart Attack.

God saw me hungry, he created pizza.
He saw me thirsty, he created pepsi.
He saw me in dark, he created light.
He saw me without problems, he created YOU.

Twinkle Twinkle little star
You should know what you are
And once you know what you are
Mental hospital is not so far.

The rain makes all things beautiful.
The grass and flowers too.
If rain makes all things beautiful why doesn't it rain on you

Roses are red, Violets are blue
monkeys like u should be kept in zoo.
Don't feel so angry you will find me there too
not in cage but laughing at you.

When ur life is in darkness pray to God ask him to
free u from darkness and if after you pray and you're
still in darkness, please pay your ELECTRICITY BILL!
